18.1.107 Release Notes (10/18)

πŸ‘‹ Hello Builders! This week, we're introducing a new way to embed your Airkit apps into your existing web environments: the Airkit Web SDK! We've also got a new UI in the Console that displays the Health Checks performed on your integrations.

πŸŽ‰ Added

πŸŽ‰ Introducing the SDK! πŸŽ‰ This is a versatile tool that streamlines the process of embedding your Airkit apps into your existing websites. Unlike out-of-the-box embeds, using the SKD to insert your Airkit apps into your website provides far more customization options regarding your iframe's appearance and how it interacts with your embedded environment. Two of the most notable advantages of the SDK are:

  • It comes equipped with a full-screen mode for mobile devices, which is particularly important when incorporating an Airkit app as a web pop-over.
  • It allows information to be easily passed between Airkit and the embedded environment, allowing the embedded app and the embedded environment to communicate context changes.

To learn more about the SDK, start with the SDK Overview.

The old means of inserting your Airkit apps into existing websites, the out-of-the-box Airkit embed, is far less versatile. We are now beginning the process of pivoting away from these old embeds, with the goal to depreciate them by August 2023. If you are creating a new embed rather than maintaining an old one, we no longer recommend using an out-of-the-box embed to construct it. Use the new SDK instead.

AND

πŸŽ‰ Introducing the Health Check Tab! πŸŽ‰ In the Console, under App Health, there's a new tab: the Health Check Tab. This tracks the health of the integrations that your apps connect to. See the App Health section of the Console doc for more information.

πŸ›  Fixes & Updates

  • Templates available for selection upon creating a new app are now sorted by type.
  • Apps can now only be opened in the version of the platform they were built on or an updated version. They cannot be opened in an older version of the platform.

We're looking forward to seeing what you keep building in the Airkit studio, and thank you for being part of the Airkit Builder community.

Happy Building!
